Description

Newbridge Place was started in 1998 by our founder and executive director, Erzsebet Mikita, and became a nonprofit agency in 2006 to provide housing and care for low-income veterans living with mental illness.
We serve 26 residents in three locations: Newbridge Place, Newbridge Veterans Place, and the Newbridge Condo in Lodi, OH.
Our residents have all been clinically diagnosed with mental illnesses, and many also have physical challenges.
Newbridge Place has demonstrated a history of successfully preventing returns to hospitals, jails or homelessness, by providing our residents with appropriate support and structure that helps them achieve and maintain a more independent lifestyle. Much of this is due to the unique 24-hour care by trained and dedicated staff.
Newbridge Place's newest facility, Newbridge Veterans Place was created in 2016 with the mission to provide residential care for these very low income, homeless veterans living with mental illness, and to improve the quality of their life by providing a safe, clean, and friendly living environment, as well as leisure activities designed to improve the client’s mental, physical, and social well-being. Historically, because of the lack of funds, members of this population often cannot receive quality care and end up rotating between homeless shelters, psychiatric hospitals, and transitional living.
All three of our residential care facilities are licensed by the Ohio Department of Mental Health and certified by the Veterans Administration for its Community Residential Care (CRC) program and its Medical Foster Care program.
Newbridge Place believes that every human being suffering from chronic mental illness and homelessness should be able to gain access to affordable housing and support services that lead to recovery and greater autonomy.
